The Des Moines City Council voted Monday to deny the renewal of Peggy’s Tavern’s liquor license.
Mark Graziano, the liquor license holder, can still appeal to the Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division to renew the license. The appeal can also go to a district court after the state agency issues its decision.
During this appeal process, the bar can continue to operate, councilman Bill Gray said. He said the process could take at least a couple of months.
“This was a tough decision,” Gray said.
